MISSION STATEMENT

It might be useful to bring you upto date with the activities of our very active yet small committee who are responsible for staging this years event.

We are very proud of what we achieved last year, the event was organised and presented within 6/7 weeks, this year will be bigger and better than last year. "Hello Hookwood" will NOW become an annual event. There is a sustainable vision and future.

Funding is always difficult and even more so in the current climate, however we look to the local business community and support from funders to help us make this a very special event. We need support, last year the testimonials testify just how much there generosity was appreciated.

"Hello Hookwood" was born in 2010 as a direct result of "The Charlwood & Hookwood Community Plan" and is now independent. It’s basically a fun day were the whole community can become involved and thoroughly enjoy. The benefit's are for the community of Charlwood, Hookwood and surrounding area’s. The Community Plan very quickly identified that Hookwood has become an almost a forgotten community, even the local media, newspapers, telephone directories, periodicals, radio and television consider it to be a "Grey Area". There are a lack of focal points such as schools, post office, shops, etc (except a very large Tesco). In addition there is no church in Hookwood nearby St Nicholas (Charlwood) Parish Magazine is not circulated to Hookwood residents. Yet Hookwood form's part of Charlwood Parish Council and therefore part of Mole Valley DC. Some famous residents include Donald Campbell who lived and built BlueBird here.

Within recent years there also have been many boundary changes, including Gatwick moving from Surrey to Sussex and Hookwood moving Horley then from Reigate & Banstead BC to Mole Valley DC. Other changes have not moved within these boundary changes such as the ecclesiastical and the media.

Last year lifted the heart and mood of the Hookwood residents, getting involved has been the key factor. Some wrote letters asking that this event to be repeated.

"Hello Hookwood 2011" is currently being organised and this will be the second event. In its simple form the event is organised for the benefit of the local communitities and led by local residents who have formed a committee for such purposes. We are grateful for the support and encouragement of Charlwood Parish Council and Hookwood Memorial Hall Trust who provide there facilitates.
We do not charge an admission charge for “Hello Hookwood”
